Melissa Mattey is a recording, mixing and mastering engineer - producer, songwriter and performing artist, currently based out of Nashville, TN. Melissa might simply, be best described, as a musical multitool. You could probably find a more poetic way to describe her approach to music. Though categorizing her approach in that manner, would be too flowery a reduction. A reduction that goes against the very ethos that has led to a multifaceted career, spanning genre and modality. An ethos and belief, that the critical detail is where the magic of a production finds purchase. Melissa’s musical roots trace back to her youth, growing up in Malaysia and Brunei. At a young age she began the study of classical piano and music theory under the “Royal Schools of Music” curriculum. An early introduction that began an educational pursuit of music, which ultimately culminated in attendance at “Berklee College of Music” where Melissa studied recording, production, mixing and music synthesis, obtaining a BA in Music Production and Engineering.
